Content Summary: |
Asks Irving to get 'The Times' of 18th to read notice of 'Hamlet' from the Kolnische Zeitung written by Max Schlesinger - the best she has seen. She has had many long walks and talks with Tennyson and he has revealed and read to her his secret! He told her he had bound Irving to secrecy and written assurance. 'Swear' by her pen. Tennyson appreciates Irving and has asked her to go with him to 'Hamlet' then remembered he was pledged to Mrs Greville so they had better go together. A letter from Walter this a.m. had bad news about Mrs Crowe. She had hoped she was recovering. She will see her on her return next Saturday. She has too much to say to Irving in a letter so will wait until they meet. Think of her sometimes as a friend. |

He has mislaid Fildes' letter but thinks he intends to come to the theatre again with two ladies. If for the next night Mr Bateman will have reserved the best possible seats. If not the next night write again to Irving. This will prove receipt of the letter, as Irving has also forgotten Fildes' number. |
