Address: The Deanery, Gloucester
Recipient: Irving, Sir Henry >>
Address: -
Date: 1895, Feb., 6
Document Type: Letter (4 p.)
Content Summary: He waited until his return to Gloucester to send the study on the 'City of White Walls' which refers to the days of Arthur. He has marked the places where the dresses of the chieftains are described - translated from contemporary folk songs. The battle and campaign took place within 50 years of the death of Arthur, who lived AD 500-525... Spence knows less of the authenticity of the bardic poems. He thanks Irving for the unforgettable experience in seeing 'King Arthur'. Please tell Miss Terry he appreciated Queen Guinivere - the lovable creation he had dreamed of. (Postscript:) He hopes to show them Gloucester Cathedral one day.
