They had intended to come to Lyceum on Tuesday 12th March as his son Eric M. Farrar, vicar of St Thomas's Coventry will be with them and wishes to see 'King Arthur'. It has always been a great pleasure to come to the Lyceum, enhanced since Irving made them his guests. He hopes Irving will enjoy reading his book. |

"My dear Mr Irving." Box sent HI 5/2/95. Farrar thanked Irving via Stoker on 6th February. It is possible Farrar sent Irving a copy of his 'Gathering Clouds', 1895, but he may be referring to Bram Stoker's 'Watters Mou' ' of which he had been sent a copy. |

He waited until his return to Gloucester to send the study on the 'City of White Walls' which refers to the days of Arthur. He has marked the places where the dresses of the chieftains are described - translated from contemporary folk songs. The battle and campaign took place within 50 years of the death of Arthur, who lived AD 500-525... Spence knows less of the authenticity of the bardic poems. He thanks Irving for the unforgettable experience in seeing 'King Arthur'. Please tell Miss Terry he appreciated Queen Guinivere - the lovable creation he had dreamed of. (Postscript:) He hopes to show them Gloucester Cathedral one day. |
