He thanks Irving for his kind welcome home. He hopes they will soon discuss America and the Americans. He imagines Irving is overwhelmed with work and will be relieved when his next production is off the stocks. Good luck to 'Don Quixote'. |

| Content Summary: |
Aveling's play 'Judith Shakespeare' was fortunate at Stratford-upon-Avon ; so good on Monday that it was repeated on Saturday. Irving's son and others can say more. Aveling wrote Orridge (?) with Irving in mind. This with the previous evening at Lyceum prompts him to ask Irving to buy the play as Irving and Ellen Terry have read it. It would wipe off all Aveling's debts. Does not know how much he owes but will sell to cancel all debts plus additional £10. He can settle landlord and redeem wife's typewriter. |

Writes enthusiastically and in detail about Irving's 'wonderful Gregory Brewster'. Has not had such a lasting impression of pleasure and pain since Salvini's Othello and Eleanora Duse's 'La Dame aux Camelias'. He was vital and convincing. |

Praise for Irving as the 'old veteran' and as Don Quixote. Gives several hints of how Irving's performance might be improved. More dreariness, more unconsciousness in walking up and down the Inn yard. More spasms and wildness. His Irvingiana now into 14 volumes - Irving still hasn't seen it. |
