Content Summary: Remember he wrote about presenting a bookplate to the Garrick Club. Garrick had a well known bookplate which was not good, and Irving's, as illustrated, was worse. He will offer his best experience but Irving should take unhurried advice from artists and heralds. That is all. (Postcript:) He is writing about Garrick and his library. An actor's library should be full of specialities.

Notes: With a large specimen bookplate of the Bibliotheca Leightoniana, Dunblane. Irving's knighthood had been announced that day; his bookplate had been designed by Bernard Partridge. See Letter 5193.
