Pleased with Irving's telegram entrusting music of 'Julius Caesar' to him. Was glad to get letter from Tadema soon afterwards saying Irving thought of him before he received Henschel's letter on board the New York. He will be delighted to write music but has busy winter schedule and as they may be in the States in March for 2 months would like to begin at once. (Already has sketched chief theme in processional march in his head.) He needs Irving's playing version as soon as possible & indications where Irving wants music besides places where Shakespeare demands it. Wants to know when he needs to be ready for rehearsals. Will Irving give his manager instructions. He hopes Irving had an excellent crossing and arrived in good health. Regards also to Ellen Terry. |
