Content Summary: They are not acquainted but he asks for a seat for the next morning. 37 years before he saw Edmund Kean as Shylock in Irving's theatre, then old English Opera House, where his admirers flocked. Woolgar's failing sight and hearing make stalls desirable. He has seen all the eminent Shylocks of this generation. (Postscript:) He is an old actor and Shakespeare lover in his 80th year, the father of Mrs A. Mellon and close friend of Peter Berlyn for the last 38 years. If he leaves his name he hopes to see Irving after the play and will bring with him a great dramatic curiosity associated with Comedy which will interest him.
