Content Summary: He would have been delighted to be one of Scott's party on Tuesday but he had promised to go down to Brighton. The last night was the biggest 2nd night they had ever had in the Lyceum. £278 - and the play went splendidly. He thanks Scott for the pains he took to do justice to the production (which is the finest they have yet seen), and for the spirit of his admirable notice. Scott writes as a gentleman and a critic - the two inseparable. He has a letter from Mr [Theodore] Martin. He will thank him for his suggestions but had better do things his own way.

Content Summary: She praises Irving as Fabien, but didn't care as much for his Louis - must he wear black gloves. She praises the scenery, costume, etc. She thought Terriss very good. Everyone imitates Irving now - he is forming a school. She sat in the stalls and will try the dress circle the next time to get another view of the scenery. She loves the crimson curtain. No sound was heard in the scene change. She looks forward to Irving and Ellen Terry in 'The Cup'. Tennyson has not done well so far. Frank [her husband] is tied to office work.
