Date: 1874, March, 28
Document Type: Letter (3 p.)
Content Summary: She hopes Irving will forgive her for writing, but she hears so much of his talent that she must ask if he is the Mr Irving who made his debut in Sunderland, on which occasion she said he would never make an actor as he was too modest for the stage. If so she will never say the same again, and will feel proud of having him under her roof. He lodged with her in Vine Place and she will treasure the old looking glass he used when practising gestures. She has now lost all her family, but a lonely old woman can still feel pleasure in hearing natural genius appreciated. She would love to hear from Irving.
