Content Summary: ...[Mathias's] snuff box and handkerchief remembered with interest. In reading the list of Irving's tour Brighton seems the end. She does not think this a good idea and makes disparaging remarks about Brighton society and its theatrical tastes. The Theatre is a very poor one and she does not like to think of Irving there. She thanks him for his kind thoughts, newspapers and dear little "Item". They have a goodly company of the Brigade for the reading that night. Sir Frederick Pollock called the day before but they could not see him. (Postscript) Send where to direct. She is going on all right according to Critchett.

Notes: Incomplete. In the hand of the Baroness Burdett-Coutts, signed on p.8 by Mrs Brown with a brief note. Mrs Brown calls the Baroness's collection of mostly male friends and visitors "the Brigade". They often had readings of plays and poetry at home, many by Walter Lacy.
