Content Summary: Wants to get into Wanderer's Club on return to England and has given Irving's name as referee (sic). Irving is the best known man of his day. Also given names of Hon. A. Craven (Rector of Rugby) and Dr Kirk, HBM Political agent. Farler is on a visit to Captain Sullivan's ship. The Royal Geographic Society have commended him for discoveries etc of Nambaza. He has invitations to lecture in England but needs to rest. The Sultan of Zanzibar makes his troops wear European uniform but they carry their boots in their hands! He is going to the Cape to visit Sir Bartle Frere.

Over night her mind had been going over the scenic effects and details of the Lyceum Shakespeare productions and Louis XI which she has not seen but can imagine through the detailed sound and the power of the imagination which created it. All is pictured in her mind's eye.

Content Summary: He saw the tragedian [Henry Irving] the previous afternoon and reached results: 1 That Irving would place £32 for her at his bankers every 4 weeks and send her a cheque book. 2. As it is hard to find a new home near Portman Square he agrees she should keep the present one on. Irving will reserve the next vacancy with Miss Moore. Let the boys have the proposed governess in the meantime. He will pay any increased cost of clothes. 3. He will pay the insurance if given details.
