Content Summary: He will be more than sorry not to be with them on their most auspicious day. They will make up for it later. Circumstances make it impossible. If she will tell him her favourite flowers she can wear his. His heart will be with her. In a few days he will ask Harry to show them the mysteries of Russell Street; perhaps she will come too. He thinks he will try Bamborough [Bamburgh]. It is not far from Edinburgh and he will go on from there. They, and she, all say that it is quiet and that's what he wants.

Notes: Harry Irving and Dorothea Baird were to marry on July 20th, but since Lady Irving was to be present it was decided that Irving would not attend. Irving was on tour, but joined the young couple during their honeymoon in Bamburgh where there were Baird family connections. The couple's new home was in fact to be in Russell Mansions, Southampton Row not Russell Street.

Content Summary: He met Dr Rice Oxley the last evening on the introduction of their vicar, H.B.Dickinson, whom Irving has met. Dr Oxley says that Irving had promised to open one of the sessions of the Norwood Scientific Society and he adds his appeal, leaving Oxley to plead his cause. His wife and daughter send kind remembrances.
