Notes: The note 13.11.96 indicates a refusal, and a draft of the reply is Letter 6871. Playfair's wife, Lena Ashwell, was playing Edward, Prince of Wales in 'Richard III'. She opened with her husband in 'Delicate Ground' at Terry's Theatre from 11th January 1897 whilst the Lyceum was closed.
