| Content Summary: |
A partial study of the National Theatre question. It is desirable, as monetary success dictates at present, and its aim should be an ideal standard above average contemporary taste. State subsidy is dangerous when institutions are free. A National Theatre should have secure basis as a corporation, and be large, elastic and independent. It should attempt every worthy branch of histrionic art, thus involving many individuals. It must establish itself by its own efforts until successful enough to be given State recognition. A massive task but success bringing great benefits. |
