He has just got Ford's letter which arrived after the play on Saturday. He will be unable to come on Thursday but will be in the theatre all that day. They produce 'Louis XI' on Monday(?) with 20 new people. Irving has had to cancel a performance on Saturday evening. Would Ford explain to the Ambassador, whom Irving would like to meet. It is only this unhappy crisis which keeps him away. |
