Content Summary: He regretfully refuses Brereton's suggestion of lunch as he has so much to do during his few days in town, with appointments every day. He will make an appointment as soon as he gets back. He returns the letter, approving of Brereton's first impulse. The man is a slave to enormous self deception. He should not attempt to drag Brereton in, which might lessen Brereton's power - possibly the aim. He cannot be trusted.

Notes: With postmarked envelope. On the back in Irving's hand is perhaps a mocking description of this unidentified correspondent: the worshipper of struggling youth, a member of the Catholic Church who feels he has been delivered from dastardly cut throats and conspirators.
