Date: 1879, May, 27
Document Type: Letter (3 p.)
Content Summary: He praises Irving's generous conduct over the proposed testimonial and asks one more favour. His illness precludes any further stage performance so the occasion is his farewell. He feels sympathy too in Irving's long period of probation. At some point in the performance will Irving give Marston's thanks to his audience. Irving's position, eloquence and exertions for the elevation of the profession make him feel this would be an especial favour. Best wishes for the success of Irving's enterprise.

Address: S-- St [Stratton Street]
Recipient: Irving, Sir Henry >>
Address: -
Date: 1879, May, 30
Document Type: Letter (4 p.)
Content Summary: Please read the enclosed 2 notes. She has no influence over No.1 which arrived the previous night. Lady Sarah Lindsay, an old friend and Bed Chamber Woman to the Queen asked to send on her letter. She also knows slightly the poor Marchioness of Devonshire. Whatever Irving decides to do he had better communicate with Lady Sarah unless he prefers the Baroness acting for him. He would have been pleased to hear the day before Lady Beresford say how differently from other theatres people looked on the Lyceum, and Sir James Laister was struck with the "refined" look of Irving's audience.

Notes: It is not known what the request was.

Date: 1879, June, 3
Document Type: Letter (4 p.)
Content Summary: The previous night was comforting and invigorating for the varied audience. She cannot wait for the congratulations of Irving's first Whit Monday... He needs rest which she cannot offer as she has a house full and the next day Miss Erskine returns from Paris. It would be a pleasure if Irving could come on Friday.

Notes: A postscript seems to refer to 'The Lady of Lyons' on Thursday. Friday 6th June was the first night of 'Eugene Aram'.
