He brings her up to date. Unable to get an appointment, he wrote to Irving on 27th May. "if Irving is too busy to see him he must work by correspondence. Cross is also very busy. Mrs Irving's money is a month overdue. The cheque book and money on credit has not been arranged. He encloses Redfern's bill £3.5.9 - who will pay? Irving promised to settle quarter's insurance paid on 7th March. As Irving suggested the boys are continuing with the governess Miss Kerr with Mrs Morgan's children. P.S. Mrs Irving has suggested it would save trouble if Irving added £100 per annum to her allowance and she dealt with everything." Cross has had no reply and other steps must be taken. |

On the bluish paper also used by Ellen Terry and therefore possibly of later date and probably after Irving became manager of the Lyceum. The actress Ada Cavendish went on tour to America in August 1878, but also toured in Britain in later years. She had acted with Irving in 1870 and in 1885 married his friend Frank Marshall. |

She doesn't include the profit and loss account as she thinks Irving would prefer Mr Charman [Sharman?] to explain it to him. She will be at the theatre the next day at 12, and is anxious to help her friend with future arrangements. She does not want him to take the theatre off her hands unless it suits his purpose. She wishes this to be his only consideration. |
