The last night was the biggest 2nd night they had ever had in the Lyceum. £278 - and the play went splendidly. He thanks Scott for the pains he took to do justice to the production (which is the finest they have yet seen), and for the spirit of his admirable notice. Scott writes as a gentleman and a critic - the two inseparable. He has a letter from Mr [Theodore] Martin. He will thank him for his suggestions but had better do things his own way.
