Saker's suggestion is a flattering one of how Irving is at that sort of thing. He will do his best on that occasion. Ellen Terry seemed quite pleased with the idea. Suggests the second Wednesday as the best date as they will have settled down at the house. As the prices are to be raised doesn't Saker think that a subscription would be a good thing? After the Opera is over - no he doesn't mean that but after the Opera weekend. If he thinks so, during May he will send Saker a complete list of what he does on the different nights. With kind remembrance to Mrs Saker. |

Edware Saker was long-standing friend of Irving and manager of the Royal Alexandra Theatre, Liverpool. This possibly relates to a special performance at the theatre during the summer tour in North of England and Scotland 1881. |

Deeply regrets cannot join Irving next Sunday as the weather is trying his throat. Hopes Irving is well. P.S. Did Irving like the Italian coat? It was made for Reeves by the Poole of Milan when he was young and well in 1845. Foli was enchanted with all he saw and heard. |

Is Irving free to dine the next day? He will meet no one as they can look at books after dinner for his Othello dress. He has written to Venice but in the meantime has many volumes they can look at. He has written to Scotland for the armour. (Postscript) If Irving is engaged Lindsay can see him any morning if he sends a line the day before. |
