Irving is welcome to the dress which he will find is later period than he wants but he will have authorities to refer to. All Pettie has is two little etchings and a lithograph which may suggest some detail. Pettie has thought of a subject for the next R.A. exhibition with the principal figure a Prince of the Church but not a known historical character.
The dress will be left out for Irving's messenger. Pettie saw his play again the other night 'awfully good'. |

He has returned to find Rose's letter. He has long wanted to meet him but is not free the next Friday. Their friend Miles(?) is in error as Irving did not suggest the date and has not seen him for two weeks. He apologizes for any inconvenience. |

It seems likely that the friend is Frank Miles who lived at 13 Salisbury Street, Strand, whilst Rose was at no. 11 (See Letter 9088).. |
