Can Irving arrange for him to say goodbye to his London friends before he starts on his provincial & German tour the next September? He knows Irving will let him know promptly, however difficult his position. He knows Irving dislikes writing so let Stoker tell him if there is a chance or not. After Germany and seeing Rome & Venice he hopes to settle in New York in partial retirement. Irving has heard of the happy release of his wife's death. His friend Dr Johnson delivered Irving's messages, and he sends regards to Miss Terry & Mr Stoker. He has sent some birds for Irving's Xmas dinner, with kindest recollections of his great courtesy. |

He has told Loveday to get bill made out & sent to Stoker to be set up so they may see it on Tuesday. On Monday Stoker might call for him at one at Grafton St and they'll go down together. Have Craven, Biggs & Knight there - no others - at 2 o'clock. Lovely weather there. Delighted about the book. (Postscript on p.2:) Don't forget paper advert & description in plain language, improvements made so if Stoker will make it out they can do that too on Tuesday. |
