Only when Loveday said it did not matter did he refuse. He had hoped for the part of Gratiano as he had been understudy and thought Irving would have given it to him except for (Frank) Cooper's prior claim. He demands immediate interview about his company position. He would regret leaving in a period of uncertain prospects.
