He can't act with Mrs Langtry in Haddon Chambers' new play at St. James's because the Gattis won't release him from 'London Day by Day' until March, and they have not heard from Terriss about releasing him for the season. This was the main reason for seeing Irving, but also he wants to do 'The Struggle for Life', which he has purchased, with Miss Ward at Easter, but needs to find a good theatre. Does Irving want him for next Autumn, as this will influence his plans? He would have called the next day but is lunching in Islington with Jacques Strop [Weeden] Grossmith.
