(2) Mansfield asked Scott for a public favour tantamount to offering a bribe (3) Mansfield has accused Scott of discrediting him as an actor. Scott says that his informant says that Irving has indignantly denied making the statement ''Bribe Scott!'.

Notes: Cutting is with the letter from The Star 4th September 1894 re the death of Mrs Lyne-Stephens. Her actual name as recorded in this obituary was Yolande Marie Louise Duvernay. Irving has scribbled on the letter 'send £2-2-00 and Stoker has scribbled 'Ch. sent £2-2-00. Attached also is receipt from Smith for said amount signed and dated.
