Content Summary: The Editor of the 'Revue Bleu' has sent him an article entitled 'Shakespeare in the theatre' which discusses 'King Lear' at the Lyceum and compares French and English productions of Shakespeare, particularly Irving's, and to his advantage. There are however some ridiculous criticisms of 'Becket'. Bouchor has written of that in another review and sends his article. He sends sympathetic greetings. Content Summary: 'The Times' that morning says he should lose no time if he wants to see 'Macbeth', and since he has been ill since he saw 'Hamlet' he will be better able mentally to compare Thane and Dane. He asks for a Box for Thursday before he is buried in the awful Amateur business with rehearsal problems, and after Thursday he is at The Old Ship at Brighton. If Irving can leave a card for him (any part of the house) at the Club. He thinks Mrs Vere will be a success if her domestic grief does not sadden her spirit, but Irving will make allowance for her and Miss Nevil, both maiden efforts.
