Content Summary: Thank Irving for accepting his bold suggestion to come to the Lyceum, and for the prompt reply to his note. He has heard from America that day and thinks the business workable, but wonders that the American opens his mouth too wide. He can tell Stoker about it on Thursday, and perhaps Irving would like to see him.

Content Summary: He hopes Stoker told Irving how much he enjoyed the programme the previous evening. He learned from Mr M[ansfield's] solicitors the previous Wednesday that he would resign his rights to Longman for £100 and Longman gathered he would take less, and so he should. If Irving is anxious the negotiations should be continued will Stoker confirm the arrangement suggested in his letter of Jan. 16 91 that Irving would be willing to pay not more than £100 to be repaid to him if the play is produced.

Content Summary: He encloses the very full scenario of Act I and the new act suggested the other night by Irving. The 5th Act scenario he read to Irving then, consisting mainly of action, is also very full. The three intervening acts could be amplified, but with Jubilee distractions, etc., not before he leaves England on 2nd July. Unless Irving makes arrangements on the present basis it will have to wait until his return from holiday, during which he had hoped to work on the actual writing. As for terms, they have agreed they would prefer the usual percentage on gross receipts. They ask for £250 as an advance. Personally he asks for the matter to be settled quickly.
