Address: Clopton House, Stratford-upon-Avon
Recipient: Stoker, Bram (Abraham)
Address: [Liverpool?]
Date: 1887, Oct., 7 Friday
Document Type: Letter (4 p.)
Content Summary: Thanks for his letter of the day before. He is glad Irving is pleased. He had not invited actors and actresses because he imagined them all engaged in London or the provinces and accommodation is limited and he does not wish the luncheon to exceed 120. Toole is the exception. Mr Phelps & Mr Lowell both come to Clopton on Saturday 15th. He has asked Phelps to speak at the Fountain after Irving, and Lowell to propose the memory of Shakespeare, also Charles Flower to propose Irving's health to vary the speakers. Flower will do it well. He will be glad of any suggestions from Stoker.

A train leaves Liverpool (North Western) 11.30 am Sunday morning reaching Rugby (Rugeley?) at 2.15 pm. If they are given a special train from Rugby to Leamington they will drive from Leamington or they might give a special train from Blisworth to Stratford. Flower would prefer the drive from Leamington. Let him know what is arranged and who are engaged at the Red Horse. (Postscript:) Private. He has not asked Mr Clement Scott as it would not be a pleasure for either of them. He will try to arrange elsewhere for him & Mr Bancroft.

The Ontario & Western R.R. have a right of way over the West Shore road but under the contract it was necessary to have an understanding about a complimentary train. Address: Star Theatre, Broadway and 13th Street [New York]
Recipient: Michie, Peter Smith
Address: West Point
Date: 1888, March, 7
Document Type: Letter (1 p.)
Content Summary: Irving asks him to write to say how much pleasure it will give him, Ellen Terry and the Company to play at West Point if it can be arranged and that he appreciated the delicacy of Michie's letter. This would probably be his last visit to America as an actor and he would like to give a memorable performance to such young men. If approved, he suggests Monday 19th March at the time Michie thinks best. Irving's regard for Michie and Colonel Bass was an important factor. If the Secretary for War refuses, Michie need not worry as Irving only wishes to do what is approved of.
