Content Summary: He brings her up to date. Unable to get an appointment, he wrote to Irving on 27th May. "if Irving is too busy to see him he must work by correspondence. Cross is also very busy. Mrs Irving's money is a month overdue. The cheque book and money on credit has not been arranged. He encloses Redfern's bill £3.5.9 - who will pay? Irving promised to settle quarter's insurance paid on 7th March. As Irving suggested the boys are continuing with the governess Miss Kerr with Mrs Morgan's children. P.S. Mrs Irving has suggested it would save trouble if Irving added £100 per annum to her allowance and she dealt with everything." Cross has had no reply and other steps must be taken.

Notes: The tailors Redfern & Sons are not said to have opened a London establishmnet until 1881, but this might refer to clothes for Irving's sons mentioned in Letter 8538.

Because of this she thinks it better to surrender the Lyceum to Irving when her last three years commence. She hopes he will meet her in every way possible. She will give him the details of the position and what she proposes, which should be submitted to a qualified person. She could not go with Bella on the tour...

Mrs Irving has left town for some time and wants all communication through Cross. 4.Irving has not yet sent the promised cheque book.
