It must be through genius that he forgets about Miss Kerr, since he has had three letters from Cross about it in the last fortnight.. Tell Edith her letter was fetching but Cross had told Irving the previous week that all communication should be through him.

Content Summary: The cheque for £8.2.6 arrived that morning requiring endorsement. Mr Austin sends enclosed letter with it. Please return. Tell Flo[rence Irving] he has send Irving a strong letter: "He has received the cheque forwarded to Mrs Morgan. Mr Austin says in future to send requests to him. Irving has mislaid Redfern's bill and wants a duplicate. He has not heard about a cheque book. All could have been settled if Irving replied daily to letters. Cross willingly became mediator hoping to help his friends. It is not his job to get a new bill when Irving is so close to Redferns and could call and pay it. If Cross is to be handed over to Austin he assumes his service is unacceptable. Lawyers and errand boys can do these tasks." Tell Cross when the quarter expires. Tell Flo despite letter he will help her when he can.

Notes: See Letters 8451, 8453 & 44. Mrs Morgan, Florence Irving's sister, presumably paid education bills quarterly. Louis Austin was Irving's secretary; many correspondents remark on Irving's failure to answer letters.
