Remembering a pleasant meeting in London she writes on behalf of the bearer Mlle Zetterberg, an actress from the Royal Theatre, Stockholm in whom she is interested. She advised her and she continues to study. She wanted to have a London debut and Sir Augustus Harris arranged this but has died. Can Irving see and hear her and do something? He has done so much for their art and helped the deserving. |

Written by a secretary and signed by Ristori, who was the Countess del Grillo. She had probably met Irving during her London visits in 1882 or 1883. Anna Zetterburg had performed once with the Independent Theatre Society at the Opera Comique in 1893 but no other performances are recorded in the 1890s. Augustus Harris died in 1896. |

| Content Summary: |
He writes to correct a misapprehension about the appeal on behalf of the Victorian Era Exhibition at Earl's Court. The Grafton Galleries exhibition has been in preparation for over 2 years and it has received many promises of works both from before and during the Queen's reign. Works of art promised, and those needing the large dimensions of Earl's Court for display will not interfere with the high class works in another place such as the Grafton Galleries. Irving had long before accepted the position of chairman of the exhibition at the Grafton Galleries and is anxious to avoid confusion. |

A press cutting from an unidentified newspaper. It seems that Irving's chairmanship of the Drama Section of the Victorian Era Exhibition was a later rather hurried arrangement, with simultaneous appeals causing confusion. |

He is writing in bed where he has been all day. All is going well but it is tedious. He has been making notes of things Scott said, and asks him to look in the next day between 12 and 2. He will be glad to see him again. The next day he will try to get to Brighton to see John [Toole], fearing he is ill. Love to them both. |
