In England I know what I am about". This is fabrication. He looks forward to going there as he loves the country, and in it has many friends.

Notes: The last letter from Hannah Brown to Irving, and difficult to read. She died on 22nd December 1878. Trin died on tour as a result of choking on a chicken bone.

Content Summary: She was writing to Irving about her box, and now finishes after his short telegram though her eyes are full and she can imagine what it is to lose such a friend. Mrs Brown is the same, as he knows how fond she was of Trin, who had been a good friend to Irving. On consideration she will choose the largest box, which will enable Mrs Brown to go sometimes. She cannot add another message. Mr Clough is so nice ... (Postscript) She will write the next day, so he is not to answer. The whole household feel for Irving.

Content Summary: As he had not heard from Stoker that morning he should hear from Loveday that day about events. He wishes Stoker had been there the day before as did many others. The affair was great success. Get enclosed "par" and the part about Kemble's estate into the 'Era'. Would Stoker make a complete list of sums of money paid for Lyceum since they have been on tour. For instance amounts to builders, paint room, office exps, House exps. He is anxious to see exactly what the Wellington St Temple costs. The decoration of the lobby will be admirable. Notes: Irving toured from September to mid-December after taking on management of the Lyceum. Stoker reckoned the expenses as £9,369 12s. The "affair" might be the reading given in both Edinburgh and Glasgow in aid of those affected by the failure of the City of Glasgow Bank.
