Elizabeth Dexter was due to play Malvolio in a college production and her mother wrote to ask Irving for advice. According to Brereton Irving spent an hour talking about the character. This does not seem to be Mrs Wirt Dexter, mentioned in Letter 7652, whose daughter was Katharine. |

Jefferson knows that Irving has given thousands of pounds to charity, but none more deserving. Jefferson met John Drew the day before, who says he was sandwiched between Irving and Jefferson at Buffalo. He hopes he tasted well. He hopes to see Ellen Terry and Irving before they go, but if not, God bless them both. |
