Engraved facsimile. 21 copies of the luxury Irving Edition of the New Century Shakespeare were published, each dedicated to one of Irving's chosen female characters. These, in Irving's hand, are: Juliet, Imogen, Ophelia, Desdemona, Rosalind, Portia, Isabella, Mariana, Julia, Beatrice, Hero, Viola, Cordelia, Hermia (inserted from side) Helena, Miranda, Hermione, Perdita, Katharine, Nerissa, Portia (wife of Brutus). Each copy had a printed dedication leaf and was signed by Irving in 1902. |
