He was glad to get Scott's letter and learn he was better. He and Toole were talking of him the day before and hoping accounts of his health were exaggerated. Toole talked much of Scott's visit & wished he saw him more often. Perhaps in sending the money to the Rose Norreys Fund they should say they could not promise a yearly recurrence, the income not being large enough to guarantee £20 yearly. Association with Adelaide Neilson might be a good reason for an exception in Griffith's case. Scott would not give him more than £10? Toole is as Scott left him - sad enough. |

Rose Norreys had been declared insane in 1895. A fund was established for her then to which Irving subscribed £10. |

Written by Louis Austin and signed and dated by Irving. The letter is simply addressed to Mr Dalziel, and might be to several of the family members. The volume is not assuredly identified, but may be 'The Brothers Dalziel', Methuen,1901. |

Curzon and his wife have often wanted to invite Irving as their guest for the Delhi Durbar. Just seen in papers about his winter engagement and knows it is well nigh impossible. No one would be more warmly welcome. Is there any time before December? The last available steamer leaves Marseilles on 12th December. |
