Content Summary: Before her letter arrived he had intended to see her on Sunday. He is just as anxious to see her. Her true affection gives him solace which would be balm to any wound and "'tis a very great one". She is not to call for him the next morning for he must leave early. They begin at one and he has matters to see to out of doors before he goes to the theatre. He will try to deliver the poem as well as he can for their sakes but "'tis cold work in the morning".

The children are fine - Laurence is not yet walking, and he has taken Harry to his club, where his father dined with him. He is surrounded by friends and prosperity, thank God. Best love & long life to them all. P.S. Written in haste so that it will arrive the next day.
