Content Summary: He writes to inform her of the decision Irving has reached in response to her request and the result of his interview with Irving that afternoon. His present position and expenses at the Lyceum prevent him from locking up a considerable sum of money for an indefinite period. He is currently very prosperous but in future circumstances might require him to convert securities into money and it might be painful if he owned the house in which she was living. Irving regrets being compelled to this decision. If an arrangement could be made by which she could own the house in seven years he would be willing to purchase the lease. If she can find a way to do this Pinches is always at her service. Irving has asked him to call to see Mr Hardie.
