Content Summary: She asks Irving to call on 27th. She has not asked before because of his nightly fatigue. What a trial for his voice portraying drunkenness must be. Mr Martin says it is exactly a drunkard's voice - her husband is very fond of melodrama and likes 'The Lyons Mail' immensely. She is more muted in her praise, as she has never believed the stage was just for amusement. She is giving a reading and her male assistants are mostly clergy - Rev.[ Alfred] Ainger is to be Shylock. She has asked Canon Duckworth for Bassanio but he is engaged. She comments sharply on the clergy's voices.
