Content Summary: Loveday thought she was improving last night but she should not return before Monday. He hopes she and Edie can come on 14th. He is sorry Edie is not going to America as she will be hard to replace. He told Stoker to tell her to send Ellen Terry and Dorothea [Irving] their dresses from 'The Medicine Man'. Living in a hotel is very public, but he has found a suitable flat in Stratton St, when he can get in. He will install his own housekeeper. Mrs Ridsdale would have suited but not her husband. He has been swindled in Grafton St recently. God bless her. (Postscript:) Would 2 or 3 days by the sea help?

Notes: Ellen Terry is not named; and the letter is signed with initials. The postscript is upside down at the head of the letter.

Date: 1899, June, 8
Document Type: Letter (2 p.)
Content Summary: He is surprised to hear the Lyceum orchestra is reduced by 8, removing 2 horns & 2 trombones which ruins music composed for Irving. It had been arranged with Mr Comyns Carr and [Laurence] Irving that the orchestra would be 26 and he had written for this number. The Fête de la Déese Raison and Entr'actes are impossible without these instruments and he asks Irving not to victimise him. Irving sense of art would surely not have allowed this and he asks his influence. Jacobi has carried out his contract and he expects Comyns Carr to do the same.
